Gloucester is easy to reach by train, car or boat. By car, Gloucester is a pleasant 40 minute drive from Boston and about 4½ hours from New York City. If you travel by car during the weekends and holidays, you can park for FREE at Stage Fort Park and take the Gloucester Trolley Shuttle for only $3.00 per day (Seniors $0.50, children under 5 FREE (see Gloucester Trolley Shuttle schedule).

You can fly to Boston's Logan International Airport (BOS) or Manchester, NH Airport (MHT). Gloucester offers several Airport Transportation Services (see below).

By Sea: Navigate to Gloucester Harbor 42°35'N, 70°40'W

Driving to Gloucester, MA
Route 128 North ends in Gloucester, with several exits to choose from. Route 128 and Interstate 95 are the same highway from southern Massachusetts until Peabody, MA. In Peabody, Route 95 branches off toward New Hampshire and Maine. When traveling north on Interstate 95/Rte. 128, you must stay on Route 128 by keeping to the left at this point (this is exit #45).

From Boston's Logan Airport
Go right off the airport exit road onto Route 1A North. Follow for 3 miles to Route 60 West. Follow Route 60 to Route 1 North (in Saugus). Follow Route 1 North to exit onto Route 128/95 North and follow directions above. In normal traffic, this drive takes about 40 minutes.

From Manchester, NH Airport
Take a right at the bottom of the airport exit road, onto Route 293 South/101 East, following signs to Interstate 93 South. Turn right onto Interstate 93 South to Interstate 95 North and follow directions via from Interstate 95 North, above.

From Northwestern New Hampshire or MA, and Vermont
Follow Interstate 93 or Route 3 South to Interstate 95 North. Follow Interstate 95 North to Route 128 North and follow directions above.

From Maine and the New Hampshire Seacoast
Follow Interstate 95 South to 128 North, which ends in Gloucester (see above).

From the South (Boston and South Shore)
Follow either Interstate 93 or Route 1 North to Interstate 95 North and follow directions above.

From the West (New York, Western MA, and beyond)
Follow Interstate 90 (Massachusetts Turnpike) East to Exit 14 (Interstate 95). From northwestern MA or southern VT, follow Route 2 East to Interstate 95. Take Interstate 95 North to 128 North and follow directions above.

From New York City
Rather than getting stuck in traffic on Interstate 95 (can be terrible through NY, CT and RI), the best way to drive to Gloucester from New York City is to take the West Side Highway to the Henry Hudson Parkway across the Spuyten Duyvil Bridge (it's the least expensive bridge with the least amount of traffic). Continue on the Henry Hudson Parkway to the Saw Mill River Parkway NORTH to I 684 North to I 84 East to I 90 East to I 95 North to 128 North and follow directions above.
